The Church is calling on Kenyans to uphold faith, unity and peaceful coexistence amid international conflicts and local challenges ahead of the 2027 General Elections.
Speaking during the burial of Henry Waireri, son of former Defence Minister the late Njenga Karume, at the family home in Cianda, Kiambu County, presiding priest Father Daniel Kariuki urged Kenyans to embrace fasting and prayer as a means of promoting peace and overcoming personal and national challenges.

Father Kariuki called for divine intervention to ensure peaceful elections and the safety of all Kenyans, saying faith and prayer remain essential in building resilience and offering hope to those facing emotional and personal struggles.
People’s Liberation Party leader Martha Karua, who attended the burial, echoed the priest’s message, urging families to remain united and draw strength from their faith during times of grief. She called on Kenyans to extend the same spirit of unity to the wider nation.
Kiambu Governor Kimani Wamatangi acknowledged the pain surrounding Waireri’s final days, describing his passing as a release from suffering and a transition to eternal rest.
Wamatangi also paid tribute to the family’s legacy, commending its commitment to hard work, family values and cultural traditions upheld by the late Mzee Njenga Karume.
