Tharaka Nithi Governor and Council of Governors (CoG) Vice Chairperson Muthomi Njuki has urged the Luo Nyanza region to back Deputy President Prof. Kithure Kindiki as President William Ruto’s running mate in the 2027 General Election, citing his impressive record as the President’s chief assistant.
Speaking in Migori County during a boda boda empowerment event hosted by Governor Ochilo Ayacko, Governor Njuki emphasized the historical collaboration between the Mt. Kenya and Nyanza regions, adding that 2027 should be no different as both regions align toward a common goal. Drumming up support for Kindiki, Njuki highlighted his strong grassroots backing and admirable leadership, noting that his selection would significantly boost the administration’s delivery on key pledges.
Echoing these sentiments, Governor Ayacko affirmed that Prof. Kindiki fits the bill. Ayacko formally apologized on behalf of his community for having voted to remove Kindiki as Senate Majority Leader during the administration of former President Uhuru Kenyatta, when both served as senators.
Furthermore, Governor Ayacko criticized former President Kenyatta over Raila Odinga’s defeat in the 2022 presidential race, claiming Kenyatta lacked a concrete strategy to defeat William Ruto’s opposition and failed to honor his commitments, relying instead on heavy spending and turnout mobilization.
Ayacko cautioned political figures currently counting on Uhuru’s backing ahead of 2027, warning that he would betray them just as he did Raila.
Both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to supporting President Ruto’s re-election in 2027, maintaining that the country has already benefited significantly from his first term and stands to gain even more in a second term.
