Mt Kenya region residents have been urged to support President William Ruto’s government for the sake of development projects.
Ndia MP George Kariuki alias GK and his Juja counterpart George Koimburi maintained that backing the government as well as Ruth’s re-election bid will facilitate implementation of key projects including roads, electricity among others.
They spoke as a public sensitisation and empowerment meeting at Muthaara village in Juja constituency, Kiambu County on Friday.
The lawmakers noted that some areas in the region, and especially Juja Sub-county, lagged behind development-wise, particularly road infrastructure, noting that this will be addressed through continued engagement with the government.
Kariuki assured residents that roads earmarked for tarmacking in Juja including the Ndarugu-Nyacaba-Maraba-Muthaara and the Kimbo-Matangi roads will be tarmacked as promised by the Head of State in his recent tour of the area.
“These roads will play a crucial role in opening this region to more developments and improving the area economy. Transport will be eased and businesses will grow immensely. We must support our President who is working tirelessly to ensure that these projects are implemented,” Kariuki said.
Kariuki, who’s also the Chairman Parliamentary Committee on Roads and Infrastructure, urged the government to honour its development commitments, noting that improved infrastructure was critical to unlocking the constituency’s economic potential.
“The government has already allocated adequate resources for these projects and construction is expected to commence soon,” said.
The Ndia lawmaker, an ardent supporter of the Head of State, has been criss-crossing the Mt Kenya region rallying support for the government and wooing residents to back the current regime to enjoy more development projects.
He is also eyeing a higher office at the National level in the next general elections with close allies divulging that he seeks to deputise President Ruto in the polls.
Juja MP George Koimburi also linked the constituency’s development agenda to the 2027 General Election, saying President William Ruto’s re-election bid would be tied to the implementation of projects promised to Kenyans.
Koimburi said residents would be keen to assess the government’s performance based on its delivery record, including improvements in infrastructure and other essential services.
“Juja residents want the President to build the roads for us to ease movement, boost transport and trigger economic growth. They also want him to ensure that all homes are connected to the national grid. I can assure him [Ruto] that he will ear our total support once he needs to these promises,” Koimburi said.
Meanwhile, Juja Deputy County Commissioner Daniel Ndege, who attended the meeting, said the government remained committed to improving security and expanding electricity connectivity to more households.
The administrator urged residents not to be swayed by discussions on social media, maintaining that the government was pursuing initiatives aimed at improving livelihoods and addressing local development needs.
The meeting comes amid concerns among residents over the state of roads in parts of Juja, with calls for the fulfilment of promises to upgrade key routes to improve accessibility and support economic activities.
