Residents of Lari constituency in Kiambu county have applauded church leaders for leading locals to pray for the country as it heads into next year’s general elections.

The mega crusade held in Kimende Town in Kijabe ward on Sunday brought together believers from across the constituency for a powerful moment of prayer, worship, and faith.

The locals noted that many ugly issues such as tribalism, hate speech, propaganda, and incitement to violence, among others, are often witnessed. They were led by local town trader Simon Njihia on Tuesday, who said the country needs to be prepared for anything with prayers.

”We have been brought up to pray before doing anything. Electioneering is a journey that needs to be dedicated to God, since so many bad things were witnessed in this country many years ago,” Njihia said.

A local politician and former banker, Josephine Miano, thanked the clergy for joining hands regardless of their denomination, with an aim of cleansing the country and dedicating it before God. Miano encouraged the church leaders to keep on praying for the country, adding the crusade renewed hope for families and individuals seeking God’s touch in different areas of life.

”We thank God that the crusade happened. They invited us and our people from all corners of our constituency attended in large numbers,” said Miano, who is seeking the Lari MP seat in the 2027 elections. “I have been walking the journey with you in education, motivation and within the community. While you pray, remember me; during the election time, please remember me for the parliamentary seat,” she added.

As Miano ended her speech, she urged locals to read Jeremiah 3:17: “The Lord will restore you to health and heal your wounds.”

Bishop Paul Kuria, one of those who had organised the Mega Crusade at Kimende town in Lari constituency in Kiambu county on Sunday.

One of the organizers, Bishop Paul Kuria, said that God wants people to repent so that the world, Kenya included, can be healed. “God is ready to restore the lost glory. We will keep praying and preaching the good gospel of God. Peace is among the issues that can help the communities coexist,” he said.

The Brethren Outreach Apostolic Ministries church pastor, Simon Mwangi, said their objective is to see each and every Kenyan play a part in preaching and keeping peace. “Our objective is to protect what brings Kenyans together, and that is peace. We all need to preach peace regardless of where we come from,” he said.

Other notable clerics included Prayers Beyond Boundaries Evangelist Lucy Ngunjiri and pastors Njoroge Kamande and Mungai Njau, among others.
