Gubernatorial Hopeful Mwaura Kogi Pledges Digital Land Reforms

Finsco Africa CEO Mwaura Kogi, who is contesting the Kiambu Gubernatorial seat on a Democratic Congress Party (DCP) ticket, has pledged to fully digitize the county’s land systems. This move, he says, is designed to eliminate the chronic backlog in title deed issuance currently plaguing the region.

Speaking at a title deed issuance ceremony at Kamiti Corner, Mr. Kogi emphasized that digitization would create a transparent workflow and allow for efficient follow-up on grievances raised by residents.

Addressing concerns over land rights, Kogi promised that his administration would protect residents from county-led land seizures. Instead, he proposed a collaborative approach involving fair compensation and partnerships with investors to develop underutilized parcels, thereby boosting county revenue.

To tackle Kiambu’s persistent land conflicts, Kogi advocated for Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) over public litigation.  “Instead of escalating issues through the media and making them public, we would rather engage church leaders and community groups to mediate and reach sustainable solutions,” Kogi stated.

Furthermore, the CEO committed to fast-tracking land development approvals. By simplifying the process, he aims to protect Kiambu residents from extortion by county officials who often exploit the current bureaucratic delays.
