Ndindi Nyoro Hits Back at DCP Propaganda and Calls for Opposition Unity

Addressing party aspirants and national delegates at the People’s Party of Kenya (PPK) headquarters, PPK leader Ndindi Nyoro accused Democracy and Change Party (DCP) leaders of mounting a targeted campaign of falsehoods to brand him a government proxy. Nyoro noted that these political attacks escalated following the launch of PPK, alleging that DCP leadership has derailed from scrutinizing President William Ruto to destabilizing PPK and its leadership instead.

Nyoro urged DCP party leader Rigathi Gachagua to rein in his members, warning that relentless infighting risks fracturing the opposition. Asserting that no amount of intimidation or smear campaigns would divert his focus, Nyoro expressed confidence that the public would ultimately discern the truth. He stressed that opposition forces should prioritize addressing national challenges and remain united in their primary goal: removing President Ruto from power to bring real change to Kenya.

Reaffirming his commitment to uniting the opposition, Nyoro stated that a cohesive coalition is essential to defeating President Ruto in the first round of the 2027 Presidential Election. He highlighted widespread economic distress as the core issue that ought to bind opposition movements together, cautioning that personal rivalries and internal squabbles only weaken their shared momentum.

Turning to the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), Nyoro criticized the recent reshuffling of returning officers, claiming they disproportionately target regions where the current administration has lost public support. He demanded transparency and equity from the electoral body to protect public trust ahead of the 2027 polls.

Furthermore, Nyoro accused the executive of utilizing regional and county commissioners to compromise voter registration drives and dictate returning officer deployments. He strongly opposed what he described as artificial, disproportionate spikes in voter registration in specific areas, urging adherence to national demographic trends and warning that state resources and intimidation will not dictate voters’ choices.

Controversies Surrounding the Kenya Pipeline Company (KPC) Share Sale. Nyoro renewed his state capture allegations regarding the Kenya Pipeline Company (KPC). He claimed that President Ruto personally directed public institution CEOs to sell their KPC holdings to a private firm, a move he argues severely disadvantaged pensioners. Nyoro emphasized that his prior warnings on the matter—which led to his parliamentary suspension—have now been vindicated, pointing to the acquisition of a 24.76% stake by an entity associated with Dangote East African Petroleum Refinery.

According to Nyoro, this transaction is part of a broader scheme to grant Nigerian billionaire Aliko Dangote a majority controlling interest of up to 75% in KPC through further public asset divestments. Alleging a direct business relationship between President Ruto and Dangote, Nyoro challenged the President to come clean on these ties and demanded full public disclosure and scrutiny over the ownership structure of KPC and related petroleum deals.
