The young and the middle-aged generation need to be empowered and encouraged so as to achieve what they have always wished, a senior accountant has said.

Certified Public Accountant Mwangi Kiwara who has declared interest in Lari parliamentary seat said that a lot people have created job for themselves, adding that they only need support to move on.

He said that the country’s population was growing with only a few opportunities for employment in both public service and private sector were available.

Certified Public Accountant Mwangi Kiwara who is aspiring for Lari MP seat speaking to journalists.

He was speaking at Kimende town in Lari constituency on Wednesday during a meet the people tour, where he encouraged traders keep working harder to earn a living.

“We all need to work hard. The life that was lived by our parents is different from us. We are graduating in masses. Today, it is only our creativity that will save us” he said.

Kiwara who is a tax expert runs Kiwara and Associates.

However, Mwangi pointed out that the constituency has fertile soil with good climate for farming, adding that if farmers were well enlightened about agribusiness, they can double their production.

“Given the fact that our constituency feeds major markets in Nairobi and Mombasa with vegetables and our farmers were still paying casual laborers in their farms, if they were taught, they can produce more and even end up expanding their market” he said.

“Given an apportunity to be an MP, I would work on value addition. By so doing, I would work hand in hand with farmers, agriculture experts until I leave an impact on our farms production and the market” Kiwara said.

He also noted that, the residents of the constituency have suffered for many years over poor status of the roads, saying they gets frustrated while taking their crop production to the market.

“Lobbying on the importance and the impact of some roads towards the economy is what is needed. We have never been adequately being told why some roads have never been tarmaced or upgraded” Kiwara said.

A resident Stephen Karanja said locals need an open minded leader who can discuss issues with them.

“Electorates needs a leader who is also approachable so that they can discuss strategies in which they can benefit. That leader can lobby on ways of adding value to them” Karanja said

“Kiwara has been approaching us, discussing issues and we feel he is better placed since he is youthful, and at the age in which his agemates need empowerment.” Karanja added.

Another resident Peter Njoroge said as a CPA holder, and also a member of Ispak, Kiwara will always ensure public funds will be utilised well to impact the community as intended.

“We should consider electing such a person. We shall oversight him. He also cannot allow himself to be in questionable situations” Njoroge added.
