Detectives in Limuru sub county have apprehended a gang of 7 most notorious criminals who have been robbing, raping and injuring motorists, pedestrians and cyclists in tea estates.
The suspected criminals are said to be waylaying motorists who pulls over their vehicles to watch the beautiful tea plantations.

Other victims are those people who visits the plantations and relaxs at the grass at the roadside of Mabroukie to Limuru road.
The worst part of it is that, the suspects do not leave women and girls unraped.
The suspects who have been driving a car, stops at a place they spot people pretending to be enjoying the beautiful views of the tea too and within a few a minutes, they attacks people threatening to kill them.
Limuru sub county police commander Mary Gachie confirmed that so many cases of gang rape, robberies and assaults by tea estate visitors have been reported at Tigoni police station and also in Limuru town police station.
“This is a dangerous criminal gang. They attack people with crude weapons. Once they attack a group of people, hits some victims especially men with metal bars so as to make them fear and others lose focus and at that time, they rape women and girls. They robs them and vanishes” she said.
Speaking at Limuru town police station on Wednesday, Gachie said that she formed a team of both regular and sleuths from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations who followed them up until they nabbed them.
As investigations was ongoing, the detectives discovered the vehicle the criminal gang was using and too nabbed it.

While accompanied by sub county DCI Alenga Gimwani, Tigoni OCS Cathrine Mundanya, Mutarakwa OCS Farah Mohammed and other senior officers, Gachie warned that they have intensified day and night patrols so as to eradicate cases of locals from attacked by thugs.
The sub county police commander revealed that one of the criminals is a convict who was released on a Presidential pardon while another one had escaped from remand.
She said the suspect who run away from remand, had been taken to court for a mention of a case she is alleged to have raped a relative, but he jumped out of court cells and runaway.
“A warrant of arrest was issued and the case has been mentioned several times” she said.
“The suspects who have been positively identified by some complainants, will face several charges. We are urging other people who had been robbed to visit our police stations and especially Limuru town for instructions” she advised.
A resident Peter Mungai applauded the police for their patrols since motorists have been complaining of being robbed by a criminal gang.
“You cannot walk alone in the tea plantations road. The worst part is Mabroukie, Nazareth junction, and a section with grass where musicians come to record music as other people come to relax and bask in the sun” Mungai said.
