Matiang’i Pledges Peaceful 2027 Campaign, Denounces Political Goonism

The Jubilee Party presidential hopeful Dr Fred Matiang’i has pledged to play clean, respectful and peaceful politics, ahead of 2027 general elections.

Matiang’i condemned the manner in which dirty politics was being played, with politicians using hired goons to disrupt rallies and cause chaos.

He said these were politics that had been overtaken by time and that the country’s democratic growth should be respected.

The JP deputy party leader dismissed leaders who are labeled as warlords, saying they do not mean well for this country.

“No violence, no goonism, no warlords. Our strength is in unity and ideas that will move Kenya forward” he said

He spoke at Jumuiya Conference and Country Home in Limuru, during the party’s consultative forum.

He was with former MP’s Jeremiah Kioni (Ndaragua), Ngunjiri Wambugu (Nyeri Town) among others.

Matiang’i also urged the aspirants that the 2027 contest should go beyond individual personalities and political interests, saying that the election must focus on the quality of leadership the country deserves.

Discussions centred on the need for integrity, competence and accountability in public service, as well as the challenges facing ordinary Kenyans.

The former interior cabinet secretary in the retired President Uhuru Kenyatta’s administration, is being fronted by the Jubilee Party as it’s candidate to face off with the incumbent William Ruto.

Kioni said the meeting is part of Jubilee’s wider engagement with political leaders and communities as the party seeks to strengthen its structures and expand its national reach ahead of the 2027 polls.

The former legislator said that the party will continue with consultations across the country as it develops its political agenda and campaign strategy.

“We will continue campaigning for our party and our candidate’s. Jubilee has a national outfit” he said.

Wambugu urged the delegates not to buy fear from detractors, adding that this was a season and it will pass.

Limuru MP aspirant on a Jubilee Party ticket Stephen Mwangi said they will be moving door to door to ensure that locals support aspirants for different seats in the forthcoming general elections.

“We are peaceful people. We want to uphold peace since it’s a value we all acquired from our party leader. We want to enlighten residents why they should support us” Mwangi said.
