A middle-aged woman has been charged before a Kiambu court with allegedly giving false information to police and obtaining official documents after falsely reporting that her child had died.
Margaret Wairimu, from Gachie Village in Kiambaa Sub-County, appeared before Kiambu Chief Magistrate Eunice Nyutu facing five counts.
The charges include giving false information to a person employed in the public service, contrary to Section 129(a) of the Penal Code.
The court heard that on September 27, 2025, at Ribarori Police Post in Gachie, Wairimu allegedly informed police officer Josephat Mutua that her child, whose name was withheld, had died while being taken to Gertrude’s Children’s Hospital.
The prosecution alleges that Wairimu knew the information was false and intended to have police record the alleged death in the Occurrence Book.
She also faces a second count of allegedly giving false information for insertion into the Register of Births.
