Ngaruiya Junior Seeks DCI Probe Into Alleged Assassination Claims by Gachagua

Gospel musician and politician Ngaruiya Junior has formally petitioned the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) to investigate allegations made by former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua claiming that there was a plan to eliminate him.

Ngaruiya on Monday visited the DCI headquarters along Kiambu Road in Nairobi, accompanied by his legal team, where he lodged a formal complaint seeking urgent investigations into remarks allegedly made by Gachagua during a morning television interview.

In the complaint addressed to the Director of Criminal Investigations, Ngaruiya expressed concern over statements suggesting that his life could be under threat, saying the allegations had generated widespread public attention and anxiety.

Speaking outside the DCI headquarters after filing the complaint, Ngaruiya said the gravity of the claims compelled him to seek the intervention of law enforcement agencies to establish the truth and ensure his safety.

“The allegations are serious and touch on matters of life and security. If there is indeed a threat against me, then the relevant agencies must act swiftly to protect me. If the claims are false, the public also deserves to know the truth,” he said.

In his petition, Ngaruiya cited Articles 26 and 29 of the Constitution of Kenya, which guarantee the right to life and the right to freedom and security of every person. He argued that any suggestion of a plot against the life of a citizen raises significant constitutional and security concerns that warrant immediate investigation.

The musician requested the DCI to commence investigations into the allegations, summon Gachagua to record a statement, and require him to provide any information or evidence supporting the claims.

He further asked investigators to establish whether any credible threat exists against his life and to recommend appropriate legal action based on the outcome of the inquiry.

According to Ngaruiya, if the former Deputy President possesses intelligence indicating that his life is in danger, security agencies should take immediate action to neutralize the threat and provide the necessary protection.

“I serve in the Kenya Kwanza administration and my life is now at risk following those remarks. I am appealing to the government to guarantee my security and ensure I can continue carrying out my duties without fear,” he stated.

His legal representatives, led by advocate Ezra Kiplangat, echoed the call for urgent investigations, emphasizing that allegations involving threats to life cannot be ignored.

The lawyers argued that public statements suggesting the existence of an assassination plot must either be substantiated through evidence or investigated thoroughly to prevent unnecessary public panic and preserve confidence in state institutions.

They further issued a seven-day ultimatum, calling on Gachagua to record a statement with investigators and disclose details regarding the alleged plot, including the individuals involved and the basis of his claims.

The legal team noted that the remarks were allegedly made during a television interview in which the former Deputy President was discussing the reported acid attack and subsequent death of political activist Wandeto.

Ngaruiya’s complaint has now placed the matter before investigators, with the DCI expected to determine whether the allegations point to a genuine security threat or whether further legal action may be necessary.

The development adds a new dimension to the ongoing political debate surrounding security concerns and public statements by senior political figures, with attention now turning to the investigative agencies for clarification and possible action.

Copies of the complaint were also forwarded to the Inspector General of the National Police Service and the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), underscoring the seriousness with which the musician and his legal team are treating the matter.

As of Monday evening, neither Gachagua nor his representatives had publicly responded to the complaint.
