Politicians have asked the government to close all bars and disband all of their operation licenses following deaths of young people at Kimende town in Kijabe ward in Lari sub county.
It was reported that, two people died early morning on Monday while the third one had died on Sunday.
Two others are reported to be receiving treating at Naivasha hospital, after being transferred from Orthodox hospital in Kimende.
After closing all bars in the county, the politicians have proposed that a public participation be conducted and relevant arms of the government be involved.
Kiambu woman representative aspirant Mercy Nungari said arms like the Anti counterfeit, Kenya Revenue Authority and Kenya Beaural of Standard be involved.
“We are feeling so sad since we have not seen leaders coming to see our crying residents. They have not also proposed what should be done to control the menace of the alcohol ” she said.
Kijabe MCA aspirant Sospheter Nyenjeri asked Kiambu MCA’s who are on recess to resume their settings and amend the liquor laws that allows members of the public to say how many bars they would want in their locality.
Nyenjeri further asked the government to work in unity to fight alcoholism since it has robbed them energetic men and women.
The aspirant also asked the governor of Kiambu Kimani Wamatangi to check on the arms that deals with licensing and inspection of bars and restaurants to ensure they are selling the correct drinks.
“We would want to see a society which is healthy, that one which is not crying over the consequences of alcoholism. I’m so sure some parents are in pain when they look at their sons, daughters, brothers, sisters and even neighbour’s” Nyenjeri said.
