Kiambu Primary School is set for a major facelift following the completion of 11 new classrooms and the launch of a fresh round of infrastructure upgrades aimed at improving learning conditions and security.
Kiambu MP Machua Waithaka said the second phase of the project would involve renovating existing classrooms and upgrading essential facilities at the school.
The works include installation of floor tiles, new roofs, windows and doors, as well as new blackboards in all classrooms.
The school playground will also be enclosed with a perimeter wall, while modern gates will be installed at the main school entrance and the entrance to the public playground.
A modern ablution block with separate facilities for pupils and members of the public is also planned.
Mr Waithaka said the upgrades were intended to improve security and sanitation while providing pupils with a better environment for learning.
The development comes amid growing demands for improved public school infrastructure as schools grapple with pressure on existing facilities and the need to provide safer and more conducive learning spaces.
The MP has also announced the commencement of road works in Mugumo Estate, Ting’ang’a Ward, where grading, compaction and murraming have started on Mugumo Road towards Kamiti Law Court.
The project is expected to improve access to homes and public facilities while easing movement for motorists, pedestrians and traders who rely on the road.
The road works will be accompanied by drainage improvements and installation of culverts at points identified as vulnerable to stormwater.
Mr Waithaka said the drainage component was necessary to protect the road from damage and improve its lifespan, particularly during heavy rains.
The road provides a link between residential areas and Kamiti Law Court, making its improvement significant for residents and other road users in the area.
The MP said the projects formed part of his development agenda focused on improving basic infrastructure and delivering services with a direct impact on residents.
The twin projects—school infrastructure upgrades and road rehabilitation—reflect growing efforts to address key challenges facing communities in Kiambu, particularly access to quality education and reliable transport networks.
Mr Waithaka pledged to continue prioritising development projects that improve service delivery and the quality of life of residents.
“Yangu Ni Kazi Tu,” he said, reiterating his commitment to implementing his development agenda.
