Senior Government officials converged in Gatundu South, Kiambu County, for a citizen engagement forum aimed at strengthening dialogue between the national Government and residents and addressing issues affecting communities in the region.
The forum brought together Cabinet Secretaries, a Principal Secretary, an elected county representative and residents in discussions on Government programmes, service delivery and measures intended to improve livelihoods.
Cabinet Secretary for Information, Communications and the Digital Economy William Kabogo Gitau was the chief guest at the citizen engagement forum, where he joined residents in discussions on their concerns and Government interventions.
Mr Kabogo was accompanied by Lands, Public Works, Housing and Urban Development Cabinet Secretary Alice Wahome, Principal Secretary for Correctional Services Salome Muhia Beacco, and Kiambu Woman Representative Anne Wamuratha uratha, among other senior Government officials.
The meeting provided a platform for residents to raise issues affecting their communities while Government representatives outlined ongoing programmes and interventions.
The engagement was part of wider efforts to create direct channels of communication between citizens and Government officials, with discussions focusing on service delivery and community development.
Wahome separately joined Dr Salome Beacco for a women empowerment forum in Gatundu South, where participants discussed ways of expanding economic opportunities for women and strengthening household and community livelihoods.
Mr Kabogo and wamuratha also attended the women’s forum.
Wamuratha described the Gatundu South meeting as an opportunity for leaders and residents to engage on matters affecting the community.
She said continued citizen participation was important in ensuring that community concerns are heard and incorporated into development discussions.
The forums brought together national and county level leaders at a time when citizen engagement has increasingly become an important component of discussions on public service delivery and implementation of Government programmes.
The officials said continued engagement with residents would provide an avenue for identifying challenges on the ground and improving communication between Government institutions and the communities they serve.
The Gatundu meetings also underscored the role of women focused initiatives in expanding economic opportunities and strengthening livelihoods, with participants discussing practical approaches to empowerment.
The engagements are expected to provide a platform for continued dialogue between residents and Government officials on development priorities and the delivery of public services in Kiambu County.
