Big Relief for Kiamumbi and Ting’ang’a: MP Machua Waithaka Flags Off Major Road Overhaul

Residents of Kiambu Constituency are set to benefit from improved transport and enhanced connectivity following the rollout of several road infrastructure projects spearheaded by Kiambu Member of Parliament Machua Waithaka through the National Government Constituencies Development Fund (NG-CDF), alongside support from the National Government.

The latest developments come after the Kenya Urban Roads Authority (KURA), under the National Infrastructure Fund, officially advertised three key roads for construction. The roads include the Kiamumbi (Maputo–Dam Avenue) Road, Kagongo–Jivanjee Road in Ting’ang’a Ward, and the Shooting Range–Kiukenda Road.

The projects are expected to improve mobility, ease transportation, and stimulate economic activities by opening up residential and commercial areas within the constituency.

Speaking on the progress of the road development programme, Waithaka described the projects as another major milestone in his administration’s commitment to modernising infrastructure and improving the quality of life for residents.

He said improved roads would not only reduce travel time but also support businesses, facilitate access to essential services, and promote economic growth across the constituency.

In addition to the roads earmarked for construction by KURA, several other roads are currently undergoing rehabilitation through grading, compaction, and murraming works.

Among them is the Makenga–Wanugu–Maracha Road in Ting’ang’a Ward, where construction crews have already moved to site. The rehabilitation is expected to make the road more accessible throughout the year, particularly during the rainy season when movement has traditionally been difficult.

In Kiamumbi Ward, road improvement works have also commenced on Coke Road, Mugumo Road, and New York Road. The upgrades are aimed at enhancing accessibility, improving safety for motorists and pedestrians, and creating a more reliable transport network for residents and businesses.

The constituency has also witnessed ongoing road improvement works in Ndumberi Ward, where grading, compaction, and murraming are being undertaken along the ACK Kabae–Gwa Kiarie Wa Njoki Road as well as ACK Kabae Road.

According to the MP, the projects are designed to strengthen connectivity between villages, improve access to schools, health facilities and markets, and support local economic development.

Residents have welcomed the continued investment in road infrastructure, noting that improved roads will lower transport costs, reduce vehicle maintenance expenses, and make movement easier for farmers, traders, schoolchildren, and emergency service providers.

Waithaka reiterated that infrastructure development remains one of the key pillars of his development agenda, saying the constituency would continue investing in projects that have a direct impact on the livelihoods of wananchi.

He affirmed that the road works form part of a broader plan to transform Kiambu Constituency through strategic investments in infrastructure, education, digital innovation, and other community development initiatives aimed at delivering sustainable socio-economic growth.
