Strengthening Kenya–Egypt Digital Partnership to Advance Innovation and Digital Skills

Kenya and Egypt have taken another step towards deepening bilateral cooperation in the digital economy following high-level talks aimed at enhancing collaboration in technology, innovation, and digital transformation.

Cabinet Secretary for Information, Communications and the Digital Economy, William Kabogo, on Tuesday hosted the Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt to Kenya, Hatem Yousri Hosni, during a courtesy call that focused on expanding cooperation between the two countries in the rapidly evolving digital sector.

The meeting underscored the growing partnership between Kenya and Egypt as both nations seek to harness technology to drive economic growth, improve public service delivery, and create opportunities for citizens.

During the discussions, the two leaders explored a wide range of areas for collaboration, including artificial intelligence, digital transformation, e-government services, ICT infrastructure development, cybersecurity, and digital skills training. They also deliberated on strategies for promoting knowledge exchange and capacity-building programmes that will foster innovation while equipping young people and professionals with the skills required in the digital economy.

Kabogo noted that stronger partnerships in technology are essential in accelerating Kenya’s digital agenda and positioning the country as a regional leader in innovation. He emphasized that collaboration with Egypt will provide an opportunity to share expertise, strengthen institutional capacity, and support the adoption of emerging technologies across both countries.

The Cabinet Secretary reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to working closely with Egypt to advance shared digital priorities through joint initiatives that promote innovation, digital inclusion, and sustainable technological development.

He observed that enhanced cooperation in ICT and digital services will not only strengthen bilateral relations but also contribute to economic transformation by creating employment opportunities, improving access to government services, and expanding digital connectivity.

The engagement reflects Kenya’s continued efforts to build strategic international partnerships that support the government’s digital transformation agenda and leverage technology as a catalyst for inclusive economic growth and improved livelihoods.

The discussions are expected to lay the groundwork for future collaborations that will accelerate innovation, enhance cybersecurity resilience, expand digital infrastructure, and empower citizens with the digital competencies needed to thrive in an increasingly technology-driven global economy.
