A man has died in Juja’s Witeithie area after plunging from the third floor of a residential apartment complex on Saturday, triggering a homicide investigation. Detectives are treating the incident as suspicious after discovering a sharp object in the victim’s possession, complicating initial theories of an accidental fall or suicide.

The deceased, whose identity has been withheld pending family notification, was discovered on the ground floor by security guards who rushed to the scene after hearing a loud thud. Early reports from the Kiambu County police command indicate that the presence of a weapon on the victim’s body has shifted the focus of the inquiry toward potential foul play.

Juja, a rapidly expanding satellite town in Kiambu County, has seen a fluctuating crime rate driven by its high density of university students and residential developments. Recent security reports indicate growing concern over safety in neighborhoods such as Witeithie, Matangi, and Kimbo.

According to local security data, residents in these high-growth zones have increasingly relied on private security firms due to reported spikes in muggings and break-ins. The discovery of a weapon in this latest incident aligns with broader concerns about armed criminal elements operating within residential estates.

Witnesses at the apartment complex reported hearing a commotion shortly before the body was found. “We heard a heavy impact and immediately alerted the gate security,” one resident stated. “It wasn’t until the police arrived that we realized the severity of the situation.”

Law enforcement officers from the Juja Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) arrived promptly to secure the scene. They recovered the sharp object found in the man’s pocket as evidence, though they have not yet disclosed whether it was a knife or a makeshift weapon.

The body has been moved to the General Kago Funeral Home, where a pathologist will conduct an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death. Investigators are currently reviewing CCTV footage from adjacent buildings to establish if the victim was alone or accompanied in the moments leading up to the fall.

Authorities have urged anyone with information regarding the incident to report to the nearest police station, as they work to piece together the events of Saturday night.
