The County Government of Kiambu has invited eligible residents, registered groups, vulnerable persons and persons with disabilities to apply for the allocation of available county-owned kiosks in selected bus parks.
The opportunity is part of an initiative by the County Government’s Directorate of Transport to allocate trading spaces in county-owned facilities to members of the public who meet the prescribed requirements.
According to a public notice issued by the Department of Roads, Transport, Public Works and Utilities, applicants are required to submit duly completed application forms together with supporting documentation before the deadline.
The notice identifies several categories of people eligible to apply, including eligible residents, registered groups and vulnerable persons.
Persons with disabilities and other vulnerable groups have been particularly encouraged to take advantage of the opportunity.
Applicants, however, have been cautioned that submitting an application does not automatically guarantee allocation of a kiosk.
The County Government says allocation will be conducted through a fair, transparent and merit-based process in accordance with applicable laws, policies, regulations and county procedures.
Applicants are required to submit completed application forms accompanied by supporting documents.
These include:
- A copy of the applicant’s National Identity Card, or a group registration certificate where the application is made by a registered group.
- A copy of the applicant’s KRA PIN Certificate.
- Any other supporting documents that may be required by the County Government.
The application forms can be obtained from the respective Municipal Offices and the Directorate of Transport. The County Government has also provided for the forms to be downloaded from its official website.
The notice states that completed application forms should be submitted in duplicate and in hard copy to the Kiambu County Government offices.
Applications are to be delivered to the Chief Officer Transport’s Office on the fourth floor at Red Nova as well as the relevant Municipal Managers’ Offices.
Applicants have been advised to ensure that their forms are fully completed and submitted within the prescribed period and during official working hours.
The County Government has strongly warned members of the public against individuals claiming they can influence or facilitate the allocation of kiosks.
The application and allocation process is free of charge, according to the notice.
Members of the public have therefore been cautioned not to pay money to individuals or agents for application forms, submission, processing or allocation.
The County Government says it will not be responsible for payments made to people purporting to facilitate the allocation of kiosks.
The warning comes as the county seeks to ensure that the allocation process remains transparent and accessible to eligible members of the public.
Those who eventually qualify for allocation will be required to comply with relevant County Government laws and regulations.
The notice specifically states that successful kiosk operators will be required to obtain a Single Business Permit and pay other applicable fees as stipulated in the county’s Finance Bill.
The County Government has also reserved the right to accept or reject applications in accordance with applicable laws and procedures.
It further emphasizes that the kiosks remain County Government-owned properties and will be allocated in accordance with approved county procedures.
The public notice gives 16 September as the deadline for submission of applications, with applications to be received during official working hours.
