The National Assembly and the country at large are mourning the sudden death of Ol Kalou Member of Parliament, David Njuguna Kiaraho, who passed away in the early hours of Sunday morning.

National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula confirmed that the third-term lawmaker died at approximately 1:20 a.m. while receiving treatment at Nairobi Hospital.

Kiaraho, who had been serving as the Member of Parliament for Ol Kalou since 2013, was widely regarded as a dedicated public servant who championed development initiatives and grassroots empowerment in Nyandarua County. His tenure in Parliament was marked by a strong focus on infrastructure, education, and agricultural support programs for his constituents.

He was elected during the 2022 General Election under the Jubilee Party ticket, securing his third consecutive term in office. Throughout his political career, Kiaraho maintained a reputation as a consistent advocate for the needs of rural communities.

Leaders across the political divide have expressed shock and sorrow at his untimely passing, describing him as a committed legislator and a unifying figure within his constituency. Tributes have begun pouring in from colleagues, constituents, and national leaders who have praised his dedication to public service.

Details regarding the cause of death and funeral arrangements are expected to be announced by the family and parliamentary leadership in due course.

Kiaraho’s death leaves a significant gap in both local and national leadership, as Ol Kalou constituents come to terms with the loss of their long-serving representative.

May his soul rest in peace.
