Information, Communications and the Digital Economy Cabinet Secretary William Kabogo has urged residents of Juja to rally behind Deputy President Kithure Kindiki, saying the ongoing road projects and economic empowerment initiatives should translate into tangible benefits for the community.

Kabogo, who was speaking during the launch of the construction of the Kimbo-Matangi-ini road in Juja Constituency, Kiambu County, said residents had long waited for improved infrastructure and deserved to see development projects completed.

He challenged Kindiki to extend the road beyond the Catholic Mission towards Ndururumo, saying the additional stretch would significantly improve connectivity and ease movement for residents.

The CS recalled having discussed the road project with the Deputy President during a previous engagement at Gatongora, where he had raised concerns about the need to improve the local transport network.

“I fought for this road because I know the challenges facing these people. They are not tribalists; they are Kenyans who want development,” Kabogo said.

He urged the Deputy President to consider extending the road to the Catholic Mission before making a further commitment to Ndururumo, saying the project would benefit residents and improve access to essential services.

Kabogo said the road was particularly important to him because his elderly mother lived in the area and he hoped to use the improved route during his regular visits.

“I want to see this road reach the Catholic Mission. From there, I will work with you to push it further to Ndururumo. Once we achieve that, we will have made a significant difference,” he said.

The CS also called for the expansion of economic empowerment programmes, particularly the Hustler Fund, to enable residents to access affordable credit and support small businesses.

He said the people of Juja were struggling with the high cost of living and needed practical interventions to help them sustain their livelihoods.

Kabogo asked Kindiki to facilitate greater access to the fund, drawing cheers from residents who expressed interest in benefiting from the initiative.

The CS further pledged to return to Juja on Saturday for a luncheon with local women, saying he had already engaged some of them before the Deputy President’s arrival.

He urged residents to remain united and support the government’s development agenda, warning that failure to embrace available opportunities could undermine their aspirations.

“Those in the Coast have their own political interests, and those in Kisumu have theirs. From Kitengela to Meru, we must know where we stand. If we do not listen, we will suffer. But if we listen, we will make progress,” Kabogo said.

In his response, Kindiki thanked the CS for championing the road project and acknowledged the residents’ demand for its extension.

He said the government was committed to addressing infrastructure challenges and ensuring that development reached communities across the country.

The Deputy President also welcomed Kabogo’s pledge to return to the area on Saturday, joking that the CS would have to honour his commitment to meet the residents.

Kindiki urged residents to support ongoing development initiatives, saying the government remained focused on delivering projects that would improve livelihoods and strengthen economic opportunities.
