Alice Ng’ang’a Takes Kiambu Governor Bid to Residents, Pledges Development Focused Leadership

Thika Town MP Alice Ng’ang’a has stepped up her campaign for the Kiambu governorship in the 2027 General Election, taking her political ambitions directly to residents during a community engagement forum in Kiambu Town.

Ng’ang’a, who is seeking to become the county’s first female governor, held discussions with residents on key development priorities at a meeting hosted by Kiambu member of Parliament John Machua and attended by Kogi Investor, who is also eyeing the Kiambu Senate seat.

The engagement provided an opportunity for residents to raise concerns and share their expectations on the county’s development trajectory, with healthcare, education, water and sanitation, infrastructure, youth empowerment and local economic opportunities featuring prominently in the discussions.

Ng’ang’a said the issues raised reflected the everyday challenges facing communities and underscored the need for leadership that listens to citizens and translates their concerns into tangible development programmes.

She described the meeting as part of broader efforts to establish a shared vision for Kiambu ahead of the next General Election, saying sustained public participation would be essential in shaping the county’s future.

“The message from the people is clear: They want development they can see and touch, not empty promises and retrogressive sloganeering,” she said.

The MP said her candidature had featured prominently in candid conversations with residents, expressing encouragement over the enthusiasm, ideas and confidence demonstrated by participants.

She argued that the county needed a leadership approach anchored in public consultation, accountability and collaborative implementation of development priorities rather than political rhetoric.

The issues raised at the forum touch on some of the critical responsibilities of the county government, particularly the delivery of accessible healthcare, reliable water services, improved sanitation, better infrastructure and economic opportunities for young people.

Youth empowerment and local enterprise development also emerged as important concerns, reflecting the demand for practical interventions that can expand employment opportunities and strengthen household incomes.

Ng’ang’a said the engagement would not be treated as a one off political meeting, pledging to maintain dialogue with residents and incorporate their feedback into discussions about Kiambu’s development agenda.

She called for collective participation in building what she described as a more prosperous and inclusive county, insisting that the journey towards a new chapter of leadership must involve residents from different communities and backgrounds.

“The time is ripe for the first female governor of Kiambu,” she said, presenting her bid as an opportunity for a new chapter in the county’s political leadership.

The meeting also brought together political figures with ambitions for other elective positions, signalling the growing political activity in Kiambu as prospective candidates begin engaging communities ahead of the 2027 polls.

However, beyond the political positioning, the discussions placed service delivery and development expectations at the centre of the emerging electoral conversation.

As the race for Kiambu’s top county seat gathers momentum, the competing political ambitions are likely to face scrutiny over their proposals for addressing persistent service delivery challenges and delivering measurable improvements in the lives of residents.
