Wamuratha Steps Up Support for Lari Schools With Water Tanks

Kiambu County Women Representative Ann Wamuratha has stepped up support for schools in Lari Constituency after two learning institutions received 5,000 litre water tanks through the National Government Affirmative Action Fund (NGAAF).

Kambaa Girls Secondary School and Wangware Junior School are the latest beneficiaries of the intervention, aimed at improving water storage and strengthening sanitation in the institutions.

The delivery of the tanks is part of Ms Wamuratha’s broader push to channel NGAAF resources into projects addressing basic needs in schools and communities across Kiambu County.

For the two institutions, the additional water storage capacity is expected to ease pressure on existing supplies and help provide a more reliable source of water for learners and staff.

Water remains a critical component of a safe and conducive learning environment, with schools requiring adequate supplies for drinking, cleaning, handwashing and maintaining sanitation facilities.

The intervention therefore comes at a time when schools are under increasing pressure to provide essential services alongside classroom infrastructure.

At Kambaa Girls Secondary School, the new tank is expected to supplement the institution’s existing water sources and improve its ability to cope with interruptions in supply.

Wangware Junior School will similarly benefit from the additional storage capacity, particularly in supporting hygiene and sanitation among young learners.

The projects underscore the importance of directing development funds towards practical interventions that have an immediate impact on communities.

Ms Wamuratha said the delivery demonstrated the importance of turning development commitments into tangible projects that directly benefit residents.

She has continued to position education and community welfare among key areas of focus in the implementation of NGAAF supported programmes in the county.

The provision of water infrastructure also complements investments in education by addressing some of the basic conditions necessary for effective learning.

Schools require more than classrooms and teaching materials to provide a conducive environment. Reliable water, sanitation and hygiene facilities are equally critical to the health and wellbeing of learners.

The projects in Lari consequently represent a modest but significant investment in the daily welfare of pupils and students.

They also illustrate how targeted interventions at community level can help bridge infrastructure gaps in public learning institutions.

Residents and school communities are expected to play a role in safeguarding the facilities and ensuring the tanks are properly maintained so that they can serve learners for years to come.

The latest deliveries form part of continued efforts to use NGAAF interventions to respond to priority needs identified by communities across Kiambu.

For Kambaa Girls Secondary School and Wangware Junior School, the message from the intervention is clear: development promises must ultimately translate into projects that improve people’s lives.

As the work continues, the focus remains on education, basic services and community projects designed to deliver practical benefits to residents.
