In recent years, political debate across the Mt. Kenya region—and particularly within Kiambu County—has intensified around development track records and political unity.

With the ruling Kenya Kwanza coalition working to fulfill campaign pledges made ahead of the general election, elected leaders from the region have frequently come together during official government functions to assess the status of key economic and infrastructure projects, while responding to criticism from opposing political factions.

Kiambu County Members of Parliament allied to the ruling Kenya Kwanza coalition have reaffirmed their unwavering support for President William Ruto’s administration, pointing to active development projects across the county as proof of fulfilled campaign promises.

Led by Thika MP and Kiambu gubernatorial hopeful Alice Ng’ang’a, alongside Kiambu County Woman Representative Anne Wamuratha, Limuru MP John Kiragu, Kiambaa MP Njuguna Wanjiku, and Lari MP Mburu Kahangara, the leaders declared that the administration’s performance gives them every reason to campaign for President Ruto’s reelection.

The lawmakers were speaking in Limuru during an event where Deputy President Kithure Kindiki commissioned milk coolers designated for nine dairy processing plants, starting with the Limuru Dairy Farmers Co-operative Society.

Addressing the gathering, the MPs noted that approximately 80 percent of tarmac road projects across Kiambu’s 12 constituencies are either complete or nearing final completion. They also praised President Ruto’s initiative to construct modern markets, citing the Kikuyu and Githunguri market projects as prominent examples of state investment taking shape.

“I will not be swayed by any political rhetoric suggesting that we should not give President William Ruto a second term,” Mrs. Ng’ang’a asserted.

The leaders criticized opposition politicians for allegedly inciting division and political hostility within the Mt. Kenya region, warning that uncheck political incitement could destabilize the nation.

Highlighting local infrastructure progress, Limuru MP Eng. John Kiragu commended the tarmacking of major local arteries, including the Murengeti–Limuru and Ndeiya–Tiekunu roads. He urged Deputy President Kindiki to invite the President to officially unveil the completed projects.

“Once you return to the President, ask him to visit Limuru so he can commission these landmark projects,” Kiragu told the Deputy President.

The lawmakers added that the newly issued milk coolers will enhance value addition in the dairy sector, directly boosting earnings for thousands of households reliant on milk farming.

In his remarks, Deputy President Kithure Kindiki assured residents that additional development initiatives were underway, emphasizing that the primary mandate of the Kenya Kwanza administration remains delivering on its pledges to the Kenyan people.

Responding to political detractors, the Deputy President stated that he holds no grudges and would remain focused on executive service delivery.

“I forgive all those who have been hurling insults at me, and I pledge not to engage them. You, the people of Limuru, know who is working and delivering, and you will judge us by our performance record when the time comes,” Kindiki said.

Kindiki also referenced a recent consultative meeting with regional elders at Kirigiti, sharing that the elders advised him to prioritize unifying the Mt. Kenya region so that its residents can speak with one political voice.
