The African Independent Pentecostal church has added its voice to the condemnation of the recent weekend violence at All Saints Cathedral, where members participating in a public consultation were attacked. The church described the incident as barbaric.

Addressing the media following the ordination of Deacon Joseph Kang’ethe to the rank of pastor, Gatundu Diocese Bishop Njomo Nderitu expressed deep concern over the assault, noting its troubling timing just months ahead of next year’s general elections.

The Bishop warned that if left unchecked, these targeted attacks by specific groups could plunge the nation into discord and disrupt its stability.

He urged law enforcement agencies to step up their efforts to maintain national peace and security, demanding that the perpetrators be apprehended to guarantee citizens that such violence will not recur.

“This is a dangerous trend,” Bishop Nderitu stated. “It is deeply telling that a gang could infiltrate an open church hall without facing immediate resistance. Had it not been for the installed CCTV cameras, the incident might have gone completely unnoticed.”
