Kiambu Member of Parliament Machua Waithaka has reaffirmed his commitment to supporting small-scale traders and creating a conducive business environment following an engagement meeting with traders from Ndumberi and Riabai wards.

During the meeting, the legislator held discussions with a section of traders on various challenges affecting their businesses and livelihoods, including market conditions, working environments, access to opportunities, and measures aimed at improving the ease of doing business within the constituency.

Waithaka noted that traders remain a critical pillar of the local economy, contributing significantly to job creation and economic growth. He emphasized the importance of continuous dialogue between leaders and the business community to ensure that the concerns of traders are heard and addressed effectively.

“As leaders, we must remain accessible and responsive to the needs of our people. Our traders work tirelessly every day to support their families and drive economic activity. It is our responsibility to create an environment where they can thrive,” said the MP.

As part of the empowerment initiative, Waithaka distributed umbrellas to traders operating in various locations across Ndumberi and Riabai. The umbrellas are intended to provide protection from harsh weather conditions, enabling the traders to continue their daily business activities with greater comfort and convenience.

The traders welcomed the support, noting that protection from rain and intense sunshine would help safeguard both their products and their working conditions. Many also lauded the MP for engaging them directly and listening to their concerns.

The meeting forms part of a broader effort by the Kiambu legislator to strengthen grassroots economic empowerment and support small and medium-sized enterprises within the constituency. Waithaka reiterated that his leadership agenda remains focused on development, service delivery, and fulfilling promises made to residents.

He assured traders that their views would continue to inform development priorities and policy interventions aimed at enhancing business growth and improving livelihoods across Kiambu Constituency.

The MP concluded by reaffirming his commitment to delivering tangible development projects and supporting initiatives that uplift residents economically, maintaining his popular slogan, “Yangu Ni Kazi Tu,” as a reflection of his dedication to service and development.

The engagement underscored the growing recognition of the role played by informal and small-scale traders in sustaining local economies and highlighted the importance of collaborative efforts between leaders and business communities in fostering inclusive economic growth.
