Kiambu Woman Representative Ann Wamuratha has stepped up her grassroots engagement campaign, taking her Meet the People Tour to Kabunge in Kirenga Ward, Lari Constituency, in a renewed push to bring leadership closer to residents and understand the challenges facing local communities.

The tour provided an opportunity for Wamuratha to interact directly with residents, listen to their concerns and discuss issues affecting their daily lives, as she seeks to make public leadership more responsive to the needs and priorities of the people.

Wamuratha said meaningful leadership must be anchored in regular engagement with citizens rather than relying solely on formal meetings or communication through intermediaries.

She emphasised the importance of listening to residents, understanding their circumstances and giving them an opportunity to articulate the issues they want addressed.

The Woman Representative said community engagement remains central to effective leadership, noting that residents should have a direct role in shaping conversations about their development and welfare.

Her visit to Kabunge formed part of the broader grassroots outreach initiative aimed at strengthening the relationship between elected leaders and the communities they represent.

Through the engagements, Wamuratha is seeking to identify local priorities, understand emerging challenges and ensure that the voices of ordinary residents remain part of discussions on development and public service delivery.

She maintained that the people must remain at the centre of leadership, with their concerns, experiences and aspirations guiding engagement with communities.

The outreach also underscores the growing importance of direct grassroots mobilisation as political leaders seek to strengthen their connections with voters ahead of the 2027 General Election.

For residents of Kirenga Ward, the visit offered an opportunity to engage their elected representative directly and place community concerns on the leadership agenda.

Wamuratha’s message was that effective representation begins with listening, understanding and maintaining an open channel of communication with the people.
