Kiambu County Governor Kimani Wamatangi signed Supplementary Budget No. I for the Financial Year 2025/2026 into law on November 6, 2025, a day after the County Assembly approved the estimates.
The supplementary budget elevates development expenditure to Ksh 10 billion, providing targeted funding for infrastructure and social programs across the county’s 12 sub-counties.
This move builds on the original Ksh 23.8 billion budget enacted in July 2025, allowing for reallocations to address emerging priorities in health, education, and connectivity.
A significant portion of the funds will go toward completing ongoing hospital construction projects and equipping them with modern medical facilities, alongside finishing remaining Early Childhood Development and Education (ECDE) centres to improve access to early learning.
Road infrastructure receives a major boost through tarmacking and cabro-paving of selected routes, a comprehensive access roads rehabilitation programme, and the installation of over 6,000 solar-powered streetlights to enhance security and usability in urban and rural areas alike.
Education and youth empowerment remain central, with the bursary allocation increased to Ksh 750 million to support more needy students in secondary and tertiary institutions.
Over Ksh 300 million has been set aside for youth support initiatives, while agricultural programmes gain dedicated funding to bolster food security and farmer livelihoods—reflecting the county’s commitment to inclusive growth within the framework of its 2023–2027 County Integrated Development Plan.
