A family in the GG locality of Thindigua, Kiambu Sub-county, is living in deep distress following the disappearance of their 24-year-old kin, Perpetual Wairimu, and her six-year-old daughter, Miriam.
The nightmare began in September this year when Perpetual first left home. According to her grandmother, Josephine Wairimu, Perpetual claimed she had found a job in Runda. Despite warnings that an education background was a key requirement for job seekers in that area, she insisted on leaving and did not return.
The family’s confusion grew when village women later spotted Perpetual at a burial ceremony at Gathanga cemetery in Kiambaa. Upon seeing them, Perpetual quickly disappeared, and she was not seen again until mid-October.

In a shocking turn, she visited Thindigua disguised as a Muslim, wearing clothing that concealed her identity. She approached a neighbour and inquired about her daughter, Miriam.
The neighbour informed Perpetual that the little girl had accompanied others to a nearby river to fetch water. Perpetual immediately went to the river, picked up the girl, and the two have not been seen since. Their current whereabouts are unknown.
Speaking to the Kiambu Observer from their home, the distraught Grandmother Josephine appealed to the public for help.
“We have visited almost all police stations—from Kiambu, Karuri, and Runda—to no avail and handed them her photo,” she said. Josephine displayed the OB (Occurrence Book) entry confirming the report, noting that the search was giving the family sleepless nights.
