    St Paul’s University unveils a scholarship program

    St Paul’s University has launched a scholarship program so as support her needy students persuing theological studies.

    Vice Chancellor Prof James Kombo said they started with four students, but the number will increase gradually as they raise more funds gradually.

    He also noted that the number will rise as a result of needs and evaluation.

    Prof Kombo applauds the founder of Mathew 28 Ministries Inc Elder Jewel Hyun from the United States, for her continued support of the institution.

    St Paul’s University Vice Chancellor Prof James Kombo congratulates the first beneficiaries of the Elder Gene Hyun Memorial Scholarship at the main campus in Limuru, Kiambu county.

    Speaking during the launch of the Elder Gene Hyun Memorial Scholarship Award Ceremony, the VC noted that the support will impact to the institution, students and their families.

    “The greatest empowerment is when you support a student. You will have touched his or her life including that of his or her family. Let us continue supporting one another ” he said.

    “We want to appreciate our sponsors for what they have done to our institution. This is a sacrifice, that has touched our hearts” Prof Kombo said.

    He said that people need to be taught about giving, saying sometimes the little things people gives impacts on other people lives and at the same time empowers others.

    He spoke when the SPU hosted Elder Jewel Hyun, who was the chief guest at the Joshua and Timothy School of Theology (JTSOT) Chapel in Limuru main campus, in Kiambu county during the launch of the scholarship.

    The students who were the first scholarship beneficiaries are John Selema, James Muhia and Winnie Cherotich.

    Also present at the event were deputy vice chancellors Abraham Waithima (academic affairs), Mwirigi Kiula (finance and administration), corporate communication and marketing officer Michael Mungai, invited guests, university staff and students.

    The Founder of Mathew 28 Ministries Inc Elder Jewel Hyun serving a cake to launch the scholarship at St Paul’s University.

    Elder Hyun said the scholarship aims at providing support so train outstanding theological scholars and discipline makers in Africa and beyond.

    She noted that she developed a sense of generosity when she was in North Korea, and before she moved together with her late husband to the United States for further studies.

    She reveals that they started raising funds, after they founded the Mathew 28 Ministries Inc, so as to support institutions and needy learners.

    Elder Hyun applauds the SPU administration for welcoming them and getting into partnership with them so that they can work hand in hand.

    “After getting a partnership, we raised funds since we wanted to ensure we have achieved our goals” she notes.

    According to the SPU, the partnership has seen building such as the Soteria, Abigail, Joshua and Timothy school of theology being built.

    She adds that, they are now offering scholarships, urging people to develop a heart a supporting each other.

    “We have people who can give within our society. I urge them to support the needy, we have needy people who can do wonders in their lives and for our society. Let us help them, God will bless us” Elder Hyun urged.
