President William Ruto has been urged to consider adding more funds to capitation channelled to institutions where needy students are supported.
A Kiambu based politician has asked the head of state to consider diverting funds for affordable housing to education saying education should be the priority.
The politician pointed that so many parents are struggling to pay school fees at the comprehensive schools and senior secondary schools.
Former Kanu chairman for Kiambu county David Mbiu told the president that by adding the capitation, he will support so many families and learners access education at the right time all over the country.
Mbiu however, noted that Ruto needs to evaluate the education needs and the affordable housing project and check which is more important.
“Our President needs to consider so many issues especially like this time when people are crying because of so many needs like school fees, food and many other necessities” Mbiu said.
“He needs to consider between the
affordable housing project and the capitation funds and which see which one needs more attention than the other and fund it more. On my part, I feel capitation is more important than the affordable housing ” he added.
Mbiu who is running for Limuru parliamentary seat in 2027 general elections, says that so many sensitive issues needs to be reconsidered.
“So many people have houses in this country, but cannot afford to pay for their children’s school fees in time. If they are supported, they will never forget about it and they will live to tell the support they used to get from the government ” he said.
He spoke at Limuru town when he met his supporters to plan on strategies they will use during the 2027 campaigns.
