A lobby group has raised concern over the abuse of drugs in Limuru and Ndeiya sub counties in Kiambu county.
It decries that, bhang, illicit brews and injection of drugs are leaving families in tears crying for their youthful children to turn away from drug abuse.
The Voice of Men and Children national chairman Bishop James Njenga said that the abuse has escalated up to secondary school students.
He alleged that most middle aged women claim that their husbands were slowly turning impotent.
He was addressing a men’s forum at Limuru town, when he said if the rising vice will not be controlled, then the youths will continue loosing focus in life.
“The sale of these items is also shameful, since even naughty students were buying bhang and even alcohol and abusing it” he said.
The cleric said the worst hit areas where youths were not fearing to be seen by parents, include Karanjee, Kwambira, Ngecha and behind Limuru town bus park in Limuru sub county and in Ndeiya sub county areas such as Kandumo, Tiekunu, Nguirubi, Boloti and within the villages.
Speaking at a men’s counseling held at Docklands Hotel where over 100 men had attended, the cleric asked the police service as well as the administration department to work hand in hand with the community to eradicate the drugs and unknown alcoholic drinks sale in both sub counties.
He said the drugs and alcoholics have also left many families broke while others having couples separated and others divorced.
On the youthful, some die and others cannot continue with education at secondary school, college and even universities.
“As Vomec, we have been receiving reports of men being beaten by their wives, chased away and even forced to sleep under the bed because they are drunk and cannot perform anything” he said.
“If the government can seriously work on these vices, we are sure that we shall nature a healthy generation” he said.
He was accompanied by Vomec secretary Josphat Njagi and treasurer Silas Koimburi.
Njagi urged the county government’s to reduce the number of bars within the county, since a lot of illicit drugs and bhang were sold iin some bars.
