The Kiambu community is in mourning following the passing of former veteran politician Mr. Ephantus Gachui, who died yesterday. A respected elder statesman,
Mr. Gachui notably served as a Nominated Councillor between 1997 and 2002, a period during which he was recognized for his commitment to civic duty and local development.
His death marks the end of a significant chapter in Kiambu’s political history, leaving behind a legacy of public service that continues through his family.
The news of his passing was shared by his son, Hon. Hezron Gachui, who currently serves as the Member of County Assembly (MCA) for Riabai Ward and is a candidate for the Kiambu Constituency parliamentary seat. Hon.
Gachui confirmed that a burial committee has been established to manage the funeral arrangements and ensure a dignified send-off for the late patriarch.
Tributes have begun to pour in from across the county, with former colleagues expressing their deep sorrow.
Among those who condoled with the family was Mr. Wakaba, a former councillor who served during the same era.
Mr. Wakaba described the late Ephantus Gachui as an “outpouring venture”—a man of immense generosity and dedication—whose influence was felt deeply within the Kiambu fraternity.
The family is currently receiving friends and well-wishers as they navigate this difficult time.
