Police in Kikuyu Sub-county, Kiambu, have recovered alcoholic drinks suspected to have been stolen from various outlets across the region.

Three men suspected of involvement in the thefts were arrested during the operation. Detectives also impounded a vehicle believed to have been used to transport the stolen goods.

Area Deputy County Commissioner Charles Laboso stated that the suspects, currently detained at the Kikuyu Police Station, are being investigated for a series of shop burglaries across several regions. Laboso noted that numerous cases of retail theft have recently been reported at police stations in Kikuyu, Kiambu, Nairobi, and Kajiado.

”We have been receiving reports of shops being broken into and assorted alcoholic drinks being stolen. Today, our detectives acted on a tip-off, arrested the suspects, and recovered both the vehicle and the suspected stolen liquor,” Laboso said.

He urged members of the public to remain vigilant, noting that thieves often scout locations before striking.

The Deputy County Commissioner also issued a stern warning to those engaging in crime, advising them to seek legitimate employment or face the full force of the law.

“We are working day and night to ensure the safety of our citizens and their property. Criminals must reform because we will catch them. We are working as a team—incorporating National Government Administration Officers (NGAO), the police, and the community through Nyumba Kumi officials—to bolster security,” Laboso warned.
