Police in Kiambu County have launched a manhunt for a suspect accused of killing two fellow labourers and seriously injuring another at Mugumo Drive Estate in Kiambu Town.

The suspect, identified as Moses Kigera, fled the scene after the attack, when he learnt that other workers were calling the police.

According to Kiambu East Sub-County DCI Stephen Mutua, police were alerted by one of the labourers about the incident.

Mutua said detectives who responded to the scene found the bodies of two victims, lying on a pool of blood owing to the injuries they sustained.

Kiambu East Police Commander Elema Hassan revealed that preliminary investigations indicate the suspect had recently been dismissed from his position and replaced by one of the deceased.

The two workers have been working as caretakers at an ongoing construction site within the estate.

“As of now, we cannot conclusively say the motive of the attack, but our detectives are working hard to establish it” the police commander said.

“We are also looking for the suspect. We are following close leads that will help us arrest him” Hassan added.

The bodies of the two victims have been moved to the Kiambu Level 5 Hospital Mortuary for post-mortem examinations, while the injured labourer is receiving treatment at Kiambu Level 5 Hospital.
