The Law Society of Kenya (LSK) officially transitioned to a new Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system on Monday. LSK Secretary and CEO Florence W. Muturi announced that the platform now supports account setups and applications for 2026 Practising Certificates. This digital overhaul aims to improve system reliability and overall efficiency for the society’s membership base.
Applications for the upcoming year are now fully digital, requiring members to upload documents directly to the portal. Once processed, the system auto-generates signed certificates for immediate download. Eligibility is restricted to members holding a current 2025 certificate who are fully compliant with Continuing Professional Development (CPD) requirements. Additionally, applicants must clear all outstanding invoices and have no open disciplinary matters.
Members with active disciplinary cases must seek specific clearance from the Secretariat before proceeding. To aid in the transition, the society released illustrated guides covering account registration, certificate application, and event booking procedures. The administration encourages all legal practitioners to familiarize themselves with the interface ahead of the 2026 licensing period to ensure continuity.
LSK President Faith Odhiambo addressed the launch on social media, admitting that users might face early technical hurdles. She described these as “teething challenges” and confirmed that the development team is gathering feedback to implement prompt fixes. Odhiambo stated that the migration of data from the outdated legacy system is currently underway and nearing completion.
Odhiambo called for patience, emphasizing that the upgrade will eventually enhance member information management. The society expects the completed system to reduce application turnaround times and provide a seamless user experience. Further modifications to the platform are planned following the conclusion of the transition phase, based on the specific needs identified by the membership.
The Law Society of Kenya is the statutory body established to oversee the country’s legal profession and advocate for the rule of law. Practising Certificates are mandatory annual licenses that allow advocates to offer legal services to the public. ERP systems integrate various organizational functions into a unified system to facilitate information flow and operational efficiency.
