A member of the county assembly (MCA) has urged parents of young adults to advise them to remain calm during the upcoming general election campaigns.

Josphat Kinyanjui, the MCA for Lari Kirenga, said that it was important for parents to support the calls from peace advocates to maintain peace as the 2027 campaigns begin.
He said appeals for peace are being made by the government, churches, civil societies, the media, and other well-wishers.

“Even as all stakeholders urge people to remain peaceful during the campaigns, we urge parents to advise their children to remain peaceful for the sake of the country. The numbers will not lie,” he said.

Lari Kirenga MCA Josphat Kinyanjui and Kikuyu council of elders King Thiong’o wa Gitau at Githirioni, in Lari constituency.

He spoke at Githirioni location in his ward, Lari Constituency, during a graduation ceremony—a rite of passage—which was organized by the Kikuyu Council of Elders.
He was accompanied by Council Elder King Thiong’o wa Gitau, who urged locals to embrace respect.

Thiong’o urged parents not to stop advising their children, even after undergoing the circumcision.

He said young people need extensive advice since the country’s and the world’s lifestyles are changing rapidly.

The elders’ leader noted that it was sad to bring up children, only for them to get trapped by issues that could have been prevented.

“Let us continue advising our youths. Do not think that after they get circumcised, they are adults and know everything. In fact, this is the best time for them to learn,” he urged.

Thiong’o also urged fathers to focus on motivating the boy child so that they can gain confidence in what they will be doing within society.

Kinyanjui at the same time urged locals to prioritize education, saying the Kiambu government had laid strong and effective strategies to create an educational foundation for them.

The MCA added that Governor Kimani Wamatangi’s administration has a better strategy for nursery school children so that they can be moulded to understand lessons more effectively.
