Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has dismissed proponents of “one-term” politics, expressing firm confidence that the current broad-based administration will secure a second mandate in 2027.
Speaking in Suba South on Friday, the DP argued that the government’s track record of nationwide development has effectively consolidated its support across traditional political divides.
Kindiki characterized the opposition’s rhetoric regarding a single term as a “fruitless theoretical engagement,” contrasting it with what he described as the practical delivery of services under the inclusive government structure.
“This broad-based government has brought real and tangible benefits to all people across the country,” Kindiki stated. “One-term is theory; broad-based is practice and serving all Kenyans.”
The Deputy President emphasized that the administration’s primary goal is equitable development, ensuring that no community is sidelined. He noted that the inclusion of diverse political factions—most notably the alignment with ODM leaders—has shifted the country’s political landscape toward unity rather than confrontation.

Kindiki specifically praised Nyanza leaders for resisting efforts to pull the region back into opposition politics. He noted that by joining the government, the region is finally positioned to reap the rewards of its loyalty to the state rather than remaining on the periphery.
The DP’s visit was marked by an inspection of several high-value projects aimed at transforming the local economy. Among the highlights of the government’s investment in the region are:
Nyandiwa Fish Landing Site: A 150 million-shilling facility currently under construction, designed to provide fisherfolk with modern cold-storage and processing capabilities.
Mfangano Island Ring Road: A 3.3 billion-shilling project. Kindiki revealed that President Ruto has directed Treasury CS John Mbadi to ensure consistent funding for its completion.
Market Infrastructure: The 350 million-shilling Homa Bay Town Fish Market is complete, with an additional 22 modern markets currently under development across the county.
Housing and Energy: Ongoing affordable housing projects and expanded rural electrification initiatives.
Kindiki took the opportunity to laud National Treasury Cabinet Secretary John Mbadi, a native of Suba South, for his role in the nation’s fiscal management. He credited Mbadi with the efficient release of funds that has allowed these multi-billion shilling projects to move from blueprints to reality.
“The person managing and signing for Kenya’s funds is a son of Suba South,” Kindiki told the crowd, linking the region’s prominent role in the Cabinet directly to the development surge seen in Homa Bay.
The DP concluded by reiterating that the “broad-based” model is not merely a political marriage of convenience, but a strategic vehicle to ensure that every Kenyan, regardless of their political affiliation, has a stake in the nation’s prosperity.
