A family in Kihingo Village, Kiambu Constituency, is appealing for urgent help after a fire destroyed their two-bedroom home.
The house belonged to Mary Kanyi, a resident who has been married for 70 years. Speaking to journalists amid the ruins, she shared her relief at surviving the blaze.
“Only God saved me. I’m grateful to my neighbours for their quick help,” Mrs Kanyi said.
This is not the first fire to strike Kiambu this year. In February, a massive blaze near Petanns Technical College in Kiambu Town razed multimillion-shilling properties and highlighted delays in county fire response.

Former Kiambu MP Jude Njomo visited the family on Sunday and donated blankets, maize, and wheat flour. He urged the county government to supply more fire engines to local stations.
He also called on residents to build stronger community ties and rally behind the affected family.
Well-wishers are encouraged to reach out to the family to offer support.
