Kimani Wamatangi has hosted the Ambassador of the Slovakia to Kenya, Maroš Mitrík, in a meeting aimed at strengthening diplomatic and economic cooperation between Kiambu County and the European nation.
The high-level engagement, which also included Slovak Trade Counsellor Samuel Cellar, focused on exploring opportunities for partnerships in key sectors such as health, agriculture, technology, cyber security, trade and industrial development.
Governor Wamatangi said the discussions centred on creating practical collaborations that can accelerate development in Kiambu while opening new economic opportunities for both countries.

“Our talks focused on strengthening partnerships, especially in health through telemedicine, agriculture, technology, trade, cyber security and industrialisation,” Wamatangi said, noting that such collaborations are crucial in advancing service delivery and boosting economic growth.
The governor emphasised that the county government is keen on leveraging technology-driven solutions, particularly telemedicine, to improve access to healthcare services for residents. By partnering with technologically advanced nations like Slovakia, Kiambu hopes to adopt innovative solutions that can modernise health systems and improve patient outcomes.
During the meeting, Wamatangi reiterated that Kiambu County remains open to international partnerships and is actively seeking investors interested in expanding into the region.
“Kiambu County remains open and ready to welcome international investors. We have put in place supportive policies and a conducive environment to foster investment and enterprise development,” he said.
He highlighted the county’s strategic advantages, including its proximity to Nairobi, well-developed infrastructure and strong agricultural base, which collectively make it an attractive destination for global investors.
The governor also pointed to the presence of the Thika Export Processing Zone as a key asset that provides investors with opportunities to establish manufacturing and export-oriented enterprises.
According to Wamatangi, the availability of land for investment and the county’s growing industrial base present a unique opportunity for foreign investors seeking to establish or expand their operations in Kenya and the wider East African region.
Ambassador Mitrík welcomed the discussions, noting that Slovakia is keen to deepen cooperation with Kenyan counties in areas of innovation, agriculture and industrial growth.
The meeting marks a significant step in expanding international cooperation at the county level, as Kiambu continues to position itself as a prime destination for global investment and technological partnerships aimed at driving sustainable development and job creation.
