    Kiambu Schools Embrace Sustainable Solar Power Under MP Waithaka’s Leadership

    Member of Parliament Machua Waithaka, through the National Government Constituency Development Fund (NG-CDF), is leading an initiative to equip primary schools in Kiambu constituency with solar power systems. This project provides schools with clean, dependable energy, reducing their reliance on traditional electricity.

    Riabai Primary School is the latest beneficiary, with solar installation currently underway. This follows successful implementations at Ting’ang’a Primary, HGM Ting’ang’a Secondary, St. Peter’s Ndumberi, and ACK St. Joseph Riabai.

    Waithaka expressed pride in the project, noting the progress towards a “greener, smarter Kiambu.” The system at Riabai Primary School features a 12kWp inverter and a 20kWh Energy Storage System (ESS), enabling the school to operate entirely off-grid. This will eliminate high electricity bills and power outages, creating a more stable learning environment.

    Beyond reliable power, the initiative offers significant environmental benefits, including cleaner air, reduced fossil fuel dependence, and contributions to climate action. It also promotes water conservation and biodiversity protection, ensuring a more sustainable learning environment for students.

    This investment in clean energy by the NG-CDF not only lowers operational costs for schools but also promotes environmental responsibility and a more effective educational setting. Waithaka concluded by emphasizing that this initiative is about “empowerment” and “progress,” signifying a “Kiambu Rising” vision for a prosperous and sustainable future.
