Residents of Ting’ang’a Ward and parts of Kiamumbi are set to benefit from improved road connectivity following the commencement of several road improvement projects initiated by Kiambu Town MP Machua Waithaka.
The tarmacking of the Maiini–John Kagai Road in Ting’ang’a Ward has officially begun, marking a major step towards improving transport links in the area.
Mr Machua said he had directed the contractor to prioritise a proper drainage system as part of the roadworks to protect the new road from water damage and enhance its lifespan.
He said the project would improve connectivity, boost road safety and make it easier for residents and traders to move people and goods within Ting’ang’a and the wider Kiambu Town constituency.
“Once completed, this road will significantly improve connectivity, enhance road safety, ease the movement of people and goods, and stimulate economic growth,” Mr Machua said.
The MP said the road programme was part of his broader efforts to address infrastructure challenges affecting residents and businesses in the constituency.
Meanwhile, road improvement works are also progressing in Kiamumbi, with grading, compaction and murraming underway along Elizabeth Street.
The works are expected to improve accessibility and provide motorists, pedestrians and businesses with a smoother and safer route.
Mr Machua said the project was progressing well and would address some of the challenges residents face, particularly during periods of heavy rainfall.
“Grading, compaction and murraming works are currently underway on Elizabeth Street in Kiamumbi. The project is progressing well and will improve accessibility, enhance road safety and provide a smoother transport experience,” he said.
Work has also commenced on the Tamasha–Mary Immaculate Road, where grading, compaction and murraming are being undertaken.
The road serves residents, motorists and businesses in the rapidly developing Kiamumbi area, with the works expected to improve mobility and strengthen links between neighbourhoods.
According to Mr Machua, upgrading the road will make transport safer and more convenient for both motorists and pedestrians while supporting businesses that depend on reliable road access.
The projects come amid growing demand for better road infrastructure in Kiambu, where rapid urbanisation and increased economic activity have put pressure on existing roads.
Mr Machua said his office would continue prioritising practical infrastructure projects aimed at improving the quality of life of residents.
“We remain steadfast in delivering quality infrastructure that transforms lives and accelerates development,” he said.
The road projects are expected to improve not only daily commuting but also the movement of agricultural produce, construction materials and other goods, potentially reducing transport costs and supporting local enterprises.
For residents of the affected areas, completion of the projects will be closely watched as improved road networks remain critical to unlocking the economic potential of the rapidly growing Kiambu Town constituency.
