Kiambu Principal Magistrate Mwanamkuu Mwakwambirwa released Juja Member of Parliament on a Bond of 1 million Shilling and a Surety of the same amount or a Cash Bail of 500,000 over the 6 Charges of forging of Academic Certificates alleged from Jomo Kenyatta University.
The legislator had been out of Court since last week Thursday on a 200,000 shillings pending Bond determination today where the Magistrate ruled that the Member for Juja be released on Bond or Cash Bail.
In her ruling the Magistrate said that the 6 accounts are same disdiminer that attract a minimum sentence of 3 years and she confirmed that after perusing the Record file as Kiambu Court File case Number 715/2021 that the Mp failed to represent himself in court on 29th July and August a total of 4 dates, the Cash Bail was forfeited and the matter withdrawn with a warrant of arrest remains in force showing that the accused had Jumped bail in the previous suit.
She further stated that the Nature of the Offence is Minor and the accused need not serve the sentence in custody saying the Court noted the Police delayed arresting the accused person as they knew where to find the accused person being a Public Figure.
The Mp was Charged with 6 Count of Forging Document, Certificates of Academic at Jomo Kenyatta of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) Academic Excellence Certificate from department of school of Human Resource Development purporting to be genuine. and also forged a Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) Certificate.
