The community residing around Indian Bazaar, extending into the Kanjata and Kangoya areas, is up in arms over a wave of violent crime hitting the normally quiet town.
So far, nearly 10 people have been violently robbed and several injured in a series of related incidents. These attacks are reportedly taking place even in broad daylight, sparking uproar and accusations that the local administration is turning a blind eye to the escalating violence.

The latest victim, Peter Kimani, was attacked, robbed, and beaten so severely he was left for dead. “They attacked me while I was heading home even before dusk. They robbed me of everything I had and then beat me up.
Nobody came to save me as onlookers were too afraid,” Kimani told the Kiambu Observer. He added that his injuries have been devastating, leaving him unable to work or provide for his family. He called upon the police to conduct more patrols and develop an extensive plan to weed out the culprits who have made life unbearable.
Other reports indicate a woman was recently attacked and raped in a similarly brutal manner. Another victim, Mr. Nelson Waithaka, an architect, was attacked while parking his car. He was robbed of two phones and struck on the head with a knife.
According to eyewitnesses at a nearby restaurant, Mr. Waithaka was pounced on by three young men who had been walking toward him from the opposite direction.
Sources who spoke to the Kiambu Observer on condition of anonymity said identifying the culprits is nearly impossible because anyone who speaks out immediately becomes a target.
Other sources claimed that after the gang hits a target, they retreat to a popular joint near the Kiambu Stage to share their loot and celebrate.
However, speaking to the Kiambu Observer, Kiambu Sub-county Police Commander (SCPC) Mr. Francis Njomo stated they have not received formal complaints regarding these attacks. “We rely on OB (Occurrence Book) reports to prosecute those involved once arrests are made,” Njomo explained.
He urged all victims to formally file reports, promising that the police would conduct thorough investigations to flush out the criminals.
