Gatundu Chief Magistrate Daniel Musyoka has called on members of the public to consider Alternative Dispute Resolution as a way of solving matters as opposed to litigation.

Speaking during The Judiciary Dialogue Day at Gatundu Law Courts. Hon Musyoka said Courts are currently overwhelmed by many cases such as succession and other family issues which could easily he handled through mediation saving time and retaining relationships.

“Alternative Dispute Resolution has proved to be effective on issues involving families such as succession and since courts are overwhelmed and having many case backlogs, we are urging people to adopt ADR to resolve disputes which is not only fast but less expensive and allows disputing parties to retain relationships.

Hon Musyoka also cautioned people taking advantage of a Court ruling declaring the local Muratina not an illicit brew and using it for commercial uses saying that they risk court action adding the brew is only legal if meant for cultural occasions such as dowry.
