Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has launched a fierce attack on Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Mohamed Amin, accusing him of covering up the murders of two businesspeople involved in Mavoko land disputes.
Speaking during the opening of a Democratic Congress Party (DCP) office in Kiambu County, Gachagua directly linked three police officers from the Kikuyu Police Station to the killings.
He claimed these officers had connections to senior government officials. Furthermore, Gachagua alleged that the DCI has humiliated the investigating officers and subjected some to punitive, illegal transfers.
Gachagua specifically accused President William Ruto of orchestrating the systemic crisis, promising to release a comprehensive report exposing escalating deaths from police brutality.
He added that Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen is fully aware of the situation but has failed to tell Kenyans the truth, prompting Gachagua to speak out publicly.
Additionally, the former DP claimed to possess files containing evidence of young men killed while under police custody. He strongly criticized the Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA) for doing too little to address the worsening situation.
