Angry residents of Gituamba village in Lari Kirenga ward in Lari constituency have stopped the funeral of a 19 years old boy who was brutally killed last week on Thursday.

Youths who had turned up at his home to dig the grave in preparation of Friday funeral, questioned Nahashon Kigotho’s family about the progress of the investigations.

Upon failing to get a satisfying response, the youths went to kitchen and stopped women who were preparing their lunch from cooking.

As if it was not enough, they pulled down the tent saying Kigotho will not be buried if his killers were not arrested and the motive of the murder known.

Women and other residents joined them and they all started screaming at Kigotho’s home, attracting more and more people to come.

There was a drama as residents demanded Kigotho’s justice before the funeral is conducted.

“We have been mourning for one week. The police visited the family on that fateful Thursday and since then, no one has been arrested nor the motive of his murder known” John Kamore said.

Kamore who is family member, said they will cooperate with the community as well as the police so as to answer questions that the community is asking.

“Today is Thursday, exactly one week after Kigotho, we will not get tired to wait for justice to be met” said Sheila Gedions, another resident.

Lari Kirenga MCA Josphat Kinyanjui speaking to journalists.

Area Member of County Assembly Josphat Kinyanjui has asked the Directorate of Criminal Investigations to speed up the probe and be factual so that Kigotho can be buried.

“The family as well as residents have a right to be informed about the DCIs findings and probably the killers be arrested and charged in a court of law. It is so sad to lose a young person” the MCA said.

However, area chief Mbugua Ndonga had a difficult time trying to cool down the agitated residents.

He urged them to remain calm down and give police enough time to investigate.

Sub county police commander Emily Ngaruiya said confirmed that the Kigotho was found murdered and body discovered near a bushy area, near a roads construction site.

She said as the DCI were investigating, they requested for a CCTV footage that faces that road where Kigotho’s body was found, and were analysing it.

Ngaruiya urged locals to remain calm and urged anyone with information that can help them answer all unanswered questions regarding the mysterious murder, to visit the DCI at Lari, and help them with it.

“The investigations is ongoing. We also want to know what happened. DCI does their work properly and everything will be known. If there is anything anyone would want to share with them, feel free to come and reveal it. Our officers are well trained to handle information with secrecy” she appealed.

Another resident who saw Kigotho’s body on that day his body was discovered Wilson Kamau said it appears as if he had been tortured before he was killed.

“This was very sad. We need to see justice done” Kamau who is also eyeing for an MCA seat said.

As soon as anti riot police were deployed at that home, locals left peacefully saying they will come back at that home when the police will hold a meeting at that home with an aim of telling them their findings and who were killers were.
