The GenZ’s have achieved it’s target of ensuring it has stopped everything in the country including President William Ruto, the Democratic Party has said.

The political party said the GenZ’s aim was to see everything has stopped in the country so as to ensure the government has felt it’s furry on issues on the Finance Bill of 2025 / 2026.

However, last year’s remembrance of the lives of the youthful protests was not possible, as it was met by the police who chased the youths.

The youths also demanded for a bill to recall some Members of Parliament, Ruto to resign and leave State House among others.

Lari sub county DP secretary Simon Peter Karanja told over 50 delegates who had met at White House in Uplands that, the country needs to learn to listen to children but not to beat them up.

He said that today’s event was a success since businesses were closed, civil servants didn’t attend to their offices, majority of police officers especially in rural area had to relax, matatu’s also were not working.

“The idea that the GenZs had was to stop everything. Despite the fact that some businesses were opened in the afternoon, nothing was happening innthe morning. It was just police who were patrolling but they had to relax” he said.

“Very few places and especially in Nairobi had protests. The rest of the country, there were no protests and riots” he said.

Surprisingly, he noted even goons participated since there was no crime, destruction of property and theft that were witnessed like last year.

Karanja asked the government to gazette the day as a public holiday, saying it will not, they will seek the government which will take over from next year to do so.

“We would want the Ruto gazette the June 25 as a public holiday. If he will not, the government which takeover after Kenya Kwanza government, it will gazette the same. This day need to be remembered years and years to come” he said.
