The Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) has stepped up efforts to expand its grassroots presence in Kiambu County, with the party’s leadership signalling plans to intensify membership recruitment and strengthen its political structures ahead of upcoming campaigns.
Kiambu Senator Karungo wa Thangwa hosted DCP Kiambu County Coordinator Sovinga wa Bibiana for a courtesy call during which the two discussed strategies for expanding the party’s footprint across the county.
According to Senator Thangwa, the discussions focused on accelerating party membership registration, identifying and recruiting strong candidates and consolidating grassroots structures in all parts of Kiambu.
The senator said the party was building momentum in the county, describing DCP as a growing political force with an increasingly organised network of supporters and prospective candidates.
“The momentum is unmistakable: DCP is strong, growing and increasingly the party of choice in Kiambu County,” Mr Thangwa said.
He added that the party’s teams were being organised at the grassroots level and that its aspirants were preparing to engage voters with what he described as the party’s political vision.
The meeting comes as political parties continue to position themselves across Kiambu, a strategically important county in Kenya’s central region, where competition for grassroots support is expected to intensify as the political calendar advances.
Mr Thangwa also announced that DCP would soon begin countywide tours aimed at taking the party’s mobilisation efforts directly to local communities.
The tours are expected to provide an opportunity for party officials to assess their grassroots networks, recruit new members and engage prospective aspirants as the party seeks to establish a stronger presence across the county.
Mr Thangwa thanked Mr Sovinga and the wider Kiambu DCP team for what he described as their work in building the party’s structures on the ground.
The planned countywide mobilisation marks a new phase in DCP’s efforts to expand beyond its existing networks and establish a broader organisational base in Kiambu.
With party registration, candidate recruitment and grassroots mobilisation emerging as key priorities, DCP leaders are now turning their attention to building structures capable of sustaining the party’s activities across the county.
“Twende kazi,” Mr Thangwa said, signalling the party’s intention to move swiftly into the next phase of its Kiambu mobilisation campaign.
