Worshipers including children were today tear gassed at AIPCA Kiamworia Church in Gatundu South as youth fought off goons ferried with buses during an ordination service attended by former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.

The chaos erupted as the former DP was addressing the faithfuls when the youth confronted the goons who were armed with Rungus and other crude weapons with at least 3 vehicles destroyed and a few people escaping with injuries.

One Sienta van was overturned by the angry youth and window screens shattered and was about to be set ablaze before police from Gatundu police station intervened.

The police then lobyed tear gass outside the church forcing worshipers including pupils of AIPCA Kiamworia Boarding primary school to scamper for safety.

Gachagua blamed President William Ruto, Gatundu South MP GG Kagombe and former presidential advisor Moses Kuria for the chaos.
“It’s a shame for the likes of Moses Kuria and GG Kagombe to agree to misused to attack their own people the same people who put them in office” he said.

He accused the leaders of being paid by the president to harm their own people

Gachagua said despite intimidation and threats being directed to the people of Mount Kenya from the Ruto government the more they continue to detest the system.

“President Ruto let me tell you the more you continue threatening the people from the mountain, the more you continue intimidating them , the more you continue applying violence to this people and their leaders the more they hate you and the more they get determined to send you home and there’s nothing you can do about” said the former DP as the worshipers applauded.

Gachagua at the same time cautioned Matatu SACCOs against being hired to ferry goons do distrupt opposition meetings saying they might be forced to call on their supporters to boycott their services.

“We might give them the benefit of doubt for now but if they continue to be used to ferry goons to our meetings, we shall have no choice but to tell our supporters to boycott their services ” he said amid applause.

The former DP also accused the police of defending goons instead of protecting law abiding citizens.

On the ongoing debate on Senior school admission, Gachagua said he has no problem with students from outside Mount Kenya being admitted in schools from the region but insisted the students from the region must be given the first priority.

Accompanying the former DP were Kiambu Senator Karungo Thang’wa. Former Limuru MP Peter Mwathi, Gatundu South MP aspirant Njinji Mutugi. Women Rep aspirant Mary Kirika and Juja parliamentary seat aspirant Aloise Kinyanjui among others.

Karungo said it’s time to consider devolving education on matters concerning infrastructure and school management.
