Members of Mihiriga Kenda-a traditional organization based in Juja-have rebuffed allegations of conducting and perpetrating female genital mutilation (FGM) that was illegalized by the government. The group led by Muthumbi Mwangi and Kamau Kirigi refuted claims that they have mutilating their female members including school-going children, noting that it is a fallacy that has been peddled for long to tarnish and discredit the group. Survivors of sexual gender based violence (SGBV) will now be able to access specialized medical care following the establishment of a new clinic at the Kenyatta University Teaching Referral and Research Hospital (KUTRRH). The recovery centre known as the Tumaini Clinic, will be providing confidential and comprehensive care and support to survivors of sexual gender violence, more so women. The Ministry of Education has closed four secondary schools in Gatundu North, Kiambu County, due to shortage of students. Kamwangi, Kaibere, Miteero and Mbichi secondary schools were shut down after students’ population dwindled drastically. Two people have been arraigned in a Thika court for stealing a motorcycle as authorities intensify crackdown to  dismantle motorbike theft syndicate.
